Short Bio
I’m currently an Associate professor of Numerical Analysis at the Mathematics Department of the University of Pisa. My main research theme is the development of numerical methods and algorithms to solve biological, physiological, and industrial problems, modeled by partial differential equations.
I constantly use and develop open source tools for high performance computing, and I am one of the main developers of the deal.II library.
I worked at SISSA from 2007 till 2023. I contributed in setting up the Master in High Performance Computing, held jointly by SISSA and ICTP, and the Master in Data Science and Scientific Computing, and I have been the Director of the Master in High Performance Computing from its beginning till 2023.
I am the co-founder and coordinator of the PhD program in “High Performance Scientific Computing” (HPSC). This is an industrial, interdisciplinary, and interdepartmental programme, organised in collaboration between the University of Pisa and S.I.T. – Sordina IORT Technologies S.p.A.
